Leading technology partners - what that means for you

SynFlex as a system partner

SynFlex brings together leading technology partners in the field of technical adhesive tapes under one roof. As a manufacturer-independent system partner, we do not choose the product we want to sell, but the solution that best fulfils your application both technically and economically.

Our portfolio combines international technology leaders such as tesa®, 3M, Isotape® and Intertape® as well as our SynTape® product line. This gives you access to different adhesive and carrier technologies - from standard industrial adhesive tapes and high-performance bonding solutions to specialised insulation and functional concepts.

Instead of providing brand-driven advice, we compare technologies objectively and select the technically suitable solution for your application - regardless of the manufacturer.

The physical basis of your application

Material & technology expertise

Before we talk about the shape of your component, we define the physical basis of your application.

A high-performance adhesive tape is a precisely harmonised multi-layer system. Each individual component is customised to your technical and process requirements.

  • Release coating: It ensures consistent unwinding behaviour - for both manual and automated processes.
  • Carrier material: The base (e.g. high-performance films, fabric or metal). It determines mechanical properties such as tear resistance, elongation or thermal resistance.
  • Adhesion promoter (primer): The bridge between the carrier and the adhesive. It guarantees maximum anchoring and prevents adhesive residue during rework.
  • Adhesive: The centrepiece - optimised for your surface energy (e.g. PE/PP or metal) and environmental conditions.

Carrier systems

  • High-performance films: PET, polyimide, PEN, Nomex®
  • Fabrics & nonwovens: Glass fabric, polyester fleece, rayon
  • Metals : Aluminium and copper substrates (EMC/conductivity)
  • Damping: Foams and thick carriers for assembly tasks

Adhesion systems

  • Acrylates: For maximum ageing and media resistance
  • Silicones: Extreme temperatures & low-energy surfaces
  • Rubber: Maximum immediate adhesion (tack) for assembly
  • Special: Heat-curing systems for resin resistance

Functional properties

  • Thermal range: Solutions from -40°C to +260°C
  • Surface energy: Optimised for plastics (PE/PP) or metals
  • Electrical values: Dielectric strength & CTI values
  • Rework: Permanently adhesive or removable without residue

From technical adhesive tape to process-ready system components

Before we talk about geometries or die-cut parts, we define the technical basis. A high-performance technical adhesive tape is a precisely harmonised multi-layer system.

Each individual layer influences the process behaviour, service life and stability of your application. However, it is not the individual component that is decisive. Rather, it is the interaction of all materials that counts.

Our vertical integration - your process reliability

  • Punching & lasering (high-precision die-cutting): Production of complex geometries as adhesive die-cut parts - individually, on a roll or stacked. Laser cutting for fast prototyping and flexible series production without tool costs.
  • Coating & laminating: Production of customised material composites and multilayer structures for combined protection, assembly and insulation functions.
  • Fabrication & cutting: Precise longitudinal cutting (slitting) to customer-specific widths and individual winding concepts to optimise your machine running times.

The SynFlex advantages

  • Manufacturer independence: Choice of tesa®, 3M, Intertape®, Isotape® and SynTape® - for the technically and economically optimised solution for your application.
  • Ready for automation: Tailor-made packaging, liner and gripping concepts (e.g. Fingerlift) for optimised assembly processes.
  • UL-compliant repackaging: As a certified repackager, we secure your global approval chain.
  • System expert: Comprehensive advice and technical expertise for the optimum coordination of material, process and application.
  • IATF 16949 certified: Highest quality standards for automotive applications worldwide.
  • Globally networked: With our own locations from Europe to Asia, we guarantee short distances, local contacts and a stable supply for your production.
FAQ

Answers to questions from the field

In electrical engineering and industrial bonding technology, details often determine the safety and cost-effectiveness of a product. Whether it's about the optimum insulation effect, process acceleration in production or compliance with international approval standards - we support you with our in-depth expertise.

Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked technical questions that we encounter in our daily work with our customers. Find out how you can optimise your processes and extend the service life of your assemblies through the right choice of materials and intelligent assembly.

Why is the CTI value becoming increasingly important?

The CTI (Comparative Tracking Index) is so important for electrical insulation because it directly indicates how resistant an insulating material is to leakage currents and surface breakdowns. This has a major impact on the safety, service life and size of electrical devices....

What is the decision between acrylic adhesive and silicone adhesive?

Acrylic adhesives are the first choice when it comes to high final adhesion and good media resistance. Silicone adhesives, on the other hand, show their strengths in extreme temperature ranges (up to 260 °C) and on "difficult", siliconised surfaces. They are particularly suitable when permanent bonding, ageing resistance and process reliability are crucial. We help you to resolve the conflict between temperature stress and the required adhesive strength, regardless of the manufacturer.

How does the surface energy influence the process time during bonding?

The surface energy of the substrate determines the wetting ability of the adhesive. With low-energy plastics (e.g. PE/PP), the initial adhesion (tack) is lower, which requires longer pressing times and therefore leads to longer cycle times. By selecting an adhesive with optimised flow properties or designing special die-cut parts, we reduce the necessary dwell time in the process and thus increase your output rate.

What measurable advantage does a customised liner concept offer?

In automated series production, standard liners often lead to downtime due to tearing or difficult removal. A customised liner concept with finger lift (gripping aid) or reinforced backing material improves automation, reduces incorrect applications and lowers the error rate. At the same time, cycle times can be shortened and process stability increased in both manual and automated assembly processes.

What role does adhesive strength play in long-term stability?

A high initial adhesive strength alone does not guarantee a permanent bond.
The decisive factor is the interaction of adhesion, cohesion and ageing behaviour under temperature, load and media contact. The correct design prevents premature failure during operation.

What effects does the choice of adhesive have on rework and maintenance?

The choice of adhesive influences whether components can be reversibly dismantled. Silicones often offer a good compromise between hold and controllable rework, while acrylates are more durable but more difficult to remove, depending on the application.

What does "UL repackaging" actually mean for my licence?

If UL-certified adhesive tapes are assembled (e.g. into die-cut parts), traceability and therefore approval expire without the corresponding certification. As a UL-certified repackager, SynFlex ensures that the certification chain remains unbroken right through to the end product. This saves you time-consuming recertification and ensures the global conformity of your assemblies.
