High-performance ETFE film

High-performance, chemical-resistant films for battery and power electronics applications

ETFE films are characterised by their high durability and their exceptionally good mechanical and electrical properties. Thanks to their outstanding physical and chemical properties, they are a popular choice where requirements for durability, insulation and resistance to environmental influences are particularly high. With a CTI value of ≥600, ETFE film is particularly suitable for demanding high-voltage applications where air and creepage distances are critical.

ETFE film: Optimal properties for the electrical industry

  • High temperature resistance: up to 200 °C; remains flexible even at low temperatures
  • Excellent electrical insulation: due to high dielectric strength
  • Very high creep current resistance (CTI ≥ 600)
  • Mechanical strength: very good elongation at break for durability
  • Fire safety: flame-retardant (DIN 4102-B1)
  • Weather resistance: high resistance to environmental influences and ageing
  • Outstanding hydrolysis resistance
  • Very low grammage
  • High light transmission

Versatile applications of ETFE film in the electrical industry

The durable ETFE film is well known for its use in architecture. Here, the material is used for translucent canopies due to its self-cleaning properties.

Thanks to its high dielectric strength and temperature resistance, ETFE film is also used in the electrical industry:

  • Insulation of cables and electrical conductors
  • Insulation material in flexible printed circuit boards
  • In high-voltage applications to improve air and creepage distances
  • Protective film or coating for electronic components to protect against moisture, dust, chemicals and mechanical damage
  • Insulation and protection of battery cells to prevent short circuits and ensure thermal stability
  • Screen protectors for touchscreens

Bespoke ETFE film solutions

At our factory in Schramberg, we process ETFE film into customised die-cut and bent components. These are perfectly tailored to your specific requirements in power electronics, such as for inverters or frequency converters.
